Release of version 1.1 with major usability enhancements.

Monday, 1st May, 2006.

Image Intelligence Software is pleased to announce the release today of a major upgrade to its Qedoc brand of educational quiz software.

The central theme of this major upgrade has been usability. In particular, the new wizards for creating levels/tests and questions take the ease-of-use to an entirely new level.

Question creation wizard

When creating a new question, users are now presented with an interactive menu featuring all the supported question types. A range of filters allow the list to be quickly narrowed down - for example, to show games, mouse-driven questions, audio-supporting questions, gapfills, etc. Two displays update at every click to show a visual example for the currently selected question type as well as a detailed verbal description. The entire interface of this initial wizard screen is designed to give the user easier access to the full power of the programme.

Level creation wizard

An entirely new wizard (or rather, two wizards of different difficulty levels) has been added for creating new tests or levels. At the same time, the level builder editor interface has been redesigned and new features added. The overall aim has been to make it very much easier for the user to compose new tests drawn from the question bank.

Question management

A very large number of small features have been added to increase the comfort of question management. For example, all question types with multiple response tables (such as multiple choice, gapfills and pair-matching) can now have the number of response table rows adjusted up and down without wiping the contents. Similarly, the question subtype can be changed without wiping existing contents - for example, you can now easily switch a multiple choice question type between different kinds of interface appearance (radio buttons, checkboxes, drop-down boxes, list boxes, etc) without losing previous edits. Overall, the editing process is now more comfortable and convenient.

Multiple choice layout

The most popular multiple choice question types now have additional choice layout options: double rows and double columns. These provide a visually more appealing and spatially more effective way of presenting larger lists of choices.

Game enhancements

Special attention has been paid to fine-tuning of the game-like question types (mystery words, anagrams and memory games).

Other changes in version 1.1 include a number of minor and major fixes. This is therefore a recommended upgrade.
